Junior Vistas
In June of 2000, Vistas for Children founded a coed junior philanthropy program, the Junior Vistas. All Vistas for Children members’ children between the ages of eight and eighteen are eligible for membership.

The mission of Junior Vistas is “to raise our awareness towards the needs of less fortunate children in our local communities. By participating in fund-raising and community service events, we intend to support these needs and bring hope to these children."

Chosen Families
This long-standing tradition was established by the founders of Vistas for Children. Each year we adopt families in need. They are referred to us by reputable children’s charities.

The help we provide includes, but is not limited to: medicine, groceries, school supplies, clothing, holiday and birthday gifts for the children.

This is a hands-on project where Vistas members meet and interact with these special families.

Holiday Baskets
This cherished project was also begun by the founders of Vistas for Children. We provide needy families with food, grocery scrip, basic necessities, and gifts at Thanksgiving and other holidays throughout the year. The Vistas members shop for the items, wrap them and personally deliver them to the families.

Philanthropy Drives
This program evolved from our Holiday Baskets project. The Vistas members hold drives throughout the year for the children’s charities we support. New and gently used items are collected by the members and distributed to the families. We have provided clothing for women seeking job interviews, therapeutic art supplies for children, a library of children’s books, and kitchen utensils for women and children of domestic abuse.

Scholarships and College Aid
For many years, Vistas for Children has awarded scholarships to qualified blind and visually impaired high school students. We provide financial assistance for tuition, supplies, and books for these young people as they enter college. Additionally, because of their unique needs, we have paid for braille machines to help translate the students’ books while they are in the classrooms or studying at home.

Casework
Vistas for Children helps families who are experiencing short or long-term crises. This assistance is confidential and referred to us by child service agencies. We have provided hyperbaric oxygen treatments for critically ill children, financial assistance for emergency surgeries and counseling for familes whose children have suffered a traumatic or terminal illness.

As the needs of these children change and evolve, so do our philanthropic programs.
