2003 Press Releases
For Immediate Release:
Who:
Vistas for Children, a distinguished and
respected philanthropic organization composed
of dedicated and diverse women from the
South Bay area, has successfully completed
another year of fundraising.
What: On
August 27, 2003, Vista's Ellen Smith presented
Rainbow Services with a grant from Vistas
for Children and the Brenda Shuck Fund.
Rainbow Services runs two shelters and provides
comprehensive services, including counseling
and children's programs, to over 2500 women
and children per year who are victims of
domestic abuse. Rainbow Services will use
the funds to support their Children's Activity
Program which provides therapeutic, educational,
and recreational activities for children
exposed to domestic abuse.
Donations Raised: Vistas
for Children was pleased to announce that
they raised in excess of $95,000 for the
year 2002-2003. These funds have been distributed
to organizations that focus on children
with special needs: children who are blind,
acutely ill, multi-handicapped, terminally
ill or suffering from pediatric illness.
Vistas also supports groups who are dedicated
to helping children who are in crises through
no fault of their own. Some of the charities
for which Vistas has raised funds are: Institute
for Families of Blind Children at Children's
Hospital in Los Angeles, Richstone Family
Center in Hawthorne, Cheer for Children
in Redondo Beach, Little Company of Mary
Community Health Foundation, Hathaway Children
and Family Services, and Rainbow Services.
Future Events:
Vistas for Children's next fund raising
event will be a CELINE fashion show featuring
the Resort/Cruise line on November 9, 2003,
at the Beverly Hills Hotel. The response
to the fashion
show has been overwhelming, with the event
already half sold.
