In
June of 2000, Vistas for Children
founded a coed junior philanthropy
program, the Junior Vistas. All Vistas
for Children members’ children
between the ages of eight and eighteen
are eligible for membership.
The mission of Junior Vistas is “to
raise our awareness towards the needs
of less fortunate children in our
local communities. By participating
in fund-raising and community service
events, we intend to support these
needs and bring hope to these children.”
The Junior Vistas
meet throughout the year and participate
in both fund-raising and community
service projects. These young volunteers
take pride in supporting “hands-on”
projects for children; some of which
include: baking for the Rainbow House
Services, sewing bean bags for the
Pediatric Therapy Network, wrapping
holiday gifts for needy children and
their families, and collecting lip
balm for children undergoing chemotherapy
at Cheer for Children.
The members of Junior Vistas participate
in field trips to meet and interact with
some of the children they support. They
have visited
children at the Neo-Natal Intensive Care
Unit at Little Company of Mary Hospital
in Torrance, Miller’s Children’s
Hospital in San Pedro, as well as the Pediatric
Therapy Network in Torrance.
Additionally, they have volunteered community
service hours to Vistas for Children’s
fall and spring fund-raisers. Vistas is
proud of this unique and energetic addition
to our fund-raising family, and we encourage
all boys and girls to become involved in
the communities in which they live.
